Summer Holiday

Summer Holiday is lovely! We even got a proper summer feeling here in the UK with weeks of sunny weather.

Holidays also means that there is finally some time for knitting also. So in the middle of the heat wave I knitted the beautiful Peerie Flooers hat last week. Now it is only about a million loose ends to weave in... - and the blocking. Photo to come if when I get that done.

As 'end of year' present from my lovely kindergarten families I got gift vouchers to the beautiful yarn-shop 'Nest' in Crouch End, London. So it didn't take me long to 'pop in' for some wool. Six skeins of lovely Soft Donegal Tweed it was and it knits up lovely into my second Vivian - cardigan by Ysolda as my first one is worn to bits.

In previous post I told you about the two lovely little mini lop rabbits we got for Elliott and Zac. Sadly, the fox got hold of 'Sunny' - the cutest bunny in the world. There was two very upset little boys here (+ me) and we quickly had to find another rabbit for Elliott. So here we now Fluffy's new friend Silver.
Even though Silver also is very cute, he has a bad habit of 'nibbling' us when held and cuddled - something that little boys isn't that keen on... Fingers crossed the biting habit will go away...

Baby Boom

A couple of friends have recently had babies, so to welcome those two new baby boys I knitted this hat and these little booties. Both lovely and super cute but after finished the purple hat, I knitted the second one in the round rather than on straight needles. I feel it turned out much better without a bulky seam at the back of the hat for new little heads.

I went to buy 6 buttons...

Yes, I went to Nest in Crouch End, London a couple of weeks ago. And what happened? Well, I came out with a tiny bit more...

Some lovely blue BC Garn - Soft Silk which is not being knit into Fleece Artist's Sea Vines Vest.

The soft pink Artesano is now a pair of Veyla fingerless mitts by Ysolda. Still needs to be finished off and have the buttons sewn on.

The absolutely yummy BC Garn - Silkbloom Fino will soon become another pair of some fingerless mitts.

But before that, I need to finally finish off my Trilo cardigan by Stolen Stitches. My camera phone doesn't do the lovely colour justice, but assure you - it is gorgeous.
Any by the way, these are the buttons I went to buy. Close up doesn't work with my camera, so photos will come another day, because they are beautiful.

Little Ducklings as birthday gifts for my four-year-old children in kindergarten.

Baby Dragon

Earlier this week my younger son was invited to his 'best friend's' birthday party and consequently was very upset when he could not attend due to illness. Together we decided about a present though - 'Baby Snow Dragon' that I found on Ravelry (and can also be found here). Now both my sons want one each of course, so I guess I need to keep crocheting.

One Christmas gift for our sons were a box of Kapla Planks that I bought from Myriad. I remember my nephew had those as a young child and loved it. In our house we all now enjoy them adults as well as children. This is one of the creations!

Leo is moving

This is Leo! He has just been equipped to move to his new mummy and her 'kindergarten children'. I wish him a nice journey and hope he will be loved in his new home.

Before Leo was ready to move to his new family and kindergarten, he had to have some really warm and cosy booties. They look so comfy and lovely that I know will knit many of these.

And as it is not often we get any snow here in the UK, I have to show a few more photos from yesterday - Today it is almost gone already...

Winter Wonderland

When they talk about 'Plunging Temperatures', 'Killer Freeze' and 'Siberian Conditions' here in England, it practically means between 0-2 degrees minus Celcius. But with this it does come a total chaos if you had any plans to go anywhere. Therefore I (luckily as it turned out) cancelled some birthday drinks with friends in London last night. Trains were running poorly even before it started snowing so I did not dare to take the chance getting both in to London and back home again...

I must say I like snow and this is what we woke up to today. Will have to make the most of it; sledging, snowman building etc. because it will probably be gone before long. Even though the traffic chaos and public transport cancellations will remain for days if not weeks...

(Haven't been able to get rid of the poinsettia yet, but the tulips are creeping in...)

As a proud mother, I must show off what my 7 year old son knitted during his first term of school-life.
